Tennis prodigy emerges! 16-year-old Russian player Lyutova sets a terrifying record by winning the WTA title in her debut in Memphis.

A tennis prodigy has emerged! 16-year-old Russian tennis star Kristina Liutova rallied from a set down to defeat world No. 114 Darja Vidmanova of the Czech Republic 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the Memphis Classic women's singles final, winning her first WTA Tour main draw title and stunning the professional women's tennis world!

This victory made Lyutova the youngest WTA singles champion since Coco Gauff, who was only 15 years old at the time, won the Linz Open in 2019. She is also the first player born after 2010 to win a WTA title.

The final was a rollercoaster ride. World No. 229 Lyutova started slowly, losing the first set 1-6. However, she rallied, winning the second set 6-1 to force a deciding set. In the third set, Lyutova took a commanding 4-0 lead, though Widmanova broke her serve to close the gap to 4-2. Lyutova then missed three match points on her own serve, but she eventually broke back and sealed the victory with a powerful forehand on her fourth match point. Upon winning, Lyutova collapsed to her knees in overwhelming emotion, then ran to the stands to embrace her mother and weep.

Lyutova's path to victory can only be described as a "miracle journey." Ranked 229th in the world, Lyutova fought her way through the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. In this WTA 250 tournament, she defeated top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova and sixth seed Caty McNally, demonstrating a maturity and resilience beyond her years.

Lyutova, who started the year ranked only 714th in the world, is expected to jump significantly to 126th after winning the title. Meanwhile, Widmanova, who lost, is currently ranked 114th in the world and continues her pursuit of her first WTA singles title.
