The Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers to send Jaylen Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, in exchange for nine-time All-Star forward Paul George and four future draft picks.
According to ESPN reporter Shams Charania, the Celtics and the 76ers have reached an agreement. The Celtics sent Brown to the 76ers in exchange for veteran George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks. The two first-round picks are for 2028 and 2031, and the two second-round picks are for 2028 and 2030.
After the Celtics were shockingly eliminated by the 76ers in the first round of this year's playoffs, rumors circulated about the future of Brown, one of the team's key players. Although the Celtics tried to make an offer to the Bucks to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo but failed, under the active shopping efforts of general manager Brad Stevens, they finally reached this blockbuster trade with the 76ers, which shocked the league. Brown also became the fifth player in league history to be traded within three years after winning the NBA Finals MVP.
Just turned 29, Brown had just completed his prime. During Jayson Tatum's absence at the start of the season due to an Achilles tendon injury, Brown stepped up, averaging career-best 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game.
